Coming out of Cimarron Canyon, our breath was taken away next by Eagle Nest Lake with the mountains still snow capped in the background.
After the first views of Eagle Nest Lake, we stopped in the tiny town of the same name. There were signs along the sidewalk with a bit of history and hilarity. Since it was an old mining town, we toured around the history center and learned a bit about gold mining and other things that shaped this place.
As we made our way south on 64, aligning us to visit Taos, we made a water stop and some friends! These Prairie dogs were pretty dang cute, and as Adonis always says - we should have adopted them! If he had his way, the van would be full of furry friends by now!
